Stainmore Summit sign erected

Quite an emotional day today. First we saw the grand re-opening ceremony at Kirkby Stephen East Station. Then we drove up and spread Iain's ashes on the hill where his granddad's ashes had been scattered. In the afternoon, we went on an exceptional trip on a double-decker to Stainmore Summit and to the south abutment of Belah viaduct.
In the evening, three young friends of ours cooked beautiful Thai curry and soup with rice. Thanks Luke, Charlotte and Becky!

Congratulations, Edera, for completing the "mission" on Iain's behalf! Your and Rev. Mugo's (on Jade Mountains) descriptions of the day bring a real sense of Iain's presence. And his is a smiling presence at that. Well done!
Take care and may your transition to Japan go smoothly.

Thank you Edera for your reply. Iain was in my thoughts all day yesterday, knowing that what he had been working on so closely for a long time, had actually come to fruition. He would have been looking down on it all no doubt, and shaking his head if he saw things not being done correctly!!
The weather here has been continual rain all week, it wasn't yesterday...the sun shone all day, which I thought was quite a fitting way to say farewell to Iain. He can wander to his hearts content now, along the places that were embedded in his thoughts. He'll have his granddad for company. How lovely to have the three young friends visit you, Iain told me about their trip to Japan.
I am going to keep a promise I made to Iain, by completing my family history saga. As a story rather than a family tree thing. It has been left half finished...so, I'm honour bound to do it, aren't I - or I'll get a dig in the ribs as a reminder!! Tell Rev. Mugo, I'll try not to use too many apostrophes....
